T he Catholic Church has not officially proclaimed the doctrine of the “Co-Redemption of Mary” as a truth of faith. Over the years, there have been calls from various circles to declare the Blessed Virgin Mary as Co-Redemptrix, but the Vatican has made it clear that such a title is neither theologically necessary nor appropriate.
In its recently released document “ Mater Populi Fidelis ” (“Mother of the Faithful”), published in November 2025 by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith , the Church clarifies its position regarding certain Marian titles.
