The Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) has said that India should look east as much as it looks to the west and increase trade with fellow Asian countries, including China.

Stressing the need for all Asian countries to create jobs at the grassroots level using technology and trade, ICRIER's Chairman Pramod Bhasin expressed hope for the opening up of more trade with China following the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and subsequent discussions at ministerial levels.

Bhasin said that different ways can be explored to access the large Chinese market, stating that an increase in trade with China can allow entry of useful technology to further India's processes and productivity.
