Bhatkal: A large amount of unaccounted cash and gold ornaments were seized from a private bus that arrived in Bhatkal from Mumbai. Police said the money and gold were being transported as a parcel without any supporting documents.
According to preliminary information, the police inspected a blue-coloured bag that had been sent as a parcel under the name ‘Irfan’. Inside the bag, they found around ₹50 lakh in cash and 401 grams of gold bangles.
Since there were no valid documents to prove ownership or purpose of transport, the police seized the cash and gold. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Inspector Divakar and PSI Naveen.
Police said the seized items would be returned if the rightful owner produces valid documents confirming their ownership.
