TRAVERSE CITY — A spate of lawsuits prompted the Trump administration to announce it will partially fund food assistance for roughly 42 million recipients across the U.S.
Before the ruling, a former Michigan senator and chief architect of the legislation that reauthorizes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program every five years called the administration’s threats to suspend the program amid a federal government shutdown a shocking political play and strong-arm tactic.
