Rare Superman comic books bought for just £20 at a car boot sale before being left forgotten in an attic have been sold for £63,000. It is almost double the estimated sale price.
The 48 identical comic books were snapped up at a second-hand sale almost a decade ago following a house clearance. Before then they had been missing for more than 40 years.
Known as This Island Bradman, it featured an eight-page story created by David Levin with artwork from Curt Swan and Angelo Torres. They are considered the rarest Superman comics ever made.
The anonymous owner had bought the books and put them in the loft, forgetting all about them.
