Celebrated each year on Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, honoring those who served in the U.S. military. This year, Veterans Day falls on a Tuesday, and restaurants are ready to salute those who served or are currently serving in the U.S. military.
On Veterans Day, many restaurants, coffee shops, fast-casual eateries and other food and drink establishments offer deals for veterans. At many places, offers are for free or discounted meals.
Among the deals are free breakfast items, juicy burgers, sizzling steaks, slices of pie and coffee.
The day that honors those who served began in 1919 as Armistice Day. Veterans Day marks Nov. 11, 1918, as the date — the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month — when fighting ceased and World War I ended. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919
