State pensioners on five Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits are having payments boosted by HUNDREDS of pounds a month. As many as one million families are missing out on £2,600 a year in benefits, new Labour Party government data has revealed.
Department for Work and Pensions, or DWP , figures show 910,000 families who were eligible for pension credit did not make a claim in the financial year ending 2024. In total, £2.5billion went untaken – worth around £2,600 a year (or £216 a month) for each eligible family.
So far this financial year (2025/26), more than 832,000 eligible families are still not applying for the benefit. Pension credit tops up your weekly state pension income to £227.10 if you are single or to £346.60 if you have a partner.
