MANHATTAN — As Nate Johnson neared Kansas State basketball history , Wildcats coach Jerome Tang told him to switch positions in order to get an easier rebound to pad his stats.

Johnson had nine rebounds and nine assists. Another rebound would have given him a double-double and just one assist shy of the first triple-double in Kansas State basketball history.

Tang said Johnson waved him off.

"He was like 'Nah, Coach, don't worry about it," Tang said. "He' just a terrific kid, you know?"

Johnson's 22-point, nine-rebound and nine-assist performance quickly captured the hearts of the K-State faithful as the Wildcats pulled away for a 93-64 win over UNC Greensboro in the Wildcats' season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Bramlage Coliseum.
