Helen Mirren will be honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at next year's Golden Globes. The 80-year-old British actress will be presented with the lifetime achievement award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the movie industry in January 2026. Instead of receiving the honour during the main Golden Globes ceremony, Mirren will be bestowed the award during a new primetime special titled Golden Eve on 8 January. Golden Eve will feature career retrospectives, never-before-seen footage and in-depth interviews with the recipients of the two special awards - the Cecil B. Mille Award and the Carol Burnett Award. "Helen Mirren is a force of nature and her career is nothing short of extraordinary," said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, in a statement. "Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award." The Cecil B. DeMille Award, named after the filmmaker, was created in 1952. Past recipients include Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sidney Poitier, Walt Disney, and, most recently, Viola Davis. The Carol Burnett Award, which was introduced in 2019, recognises achievement in the TV industry. It has not been revealed who will follow in the footsteps of this year's recipient, Ted Danson. The Oscar-winning actress was previously honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in 2022 and the BAFTA Fellowship in 2013. She has been nominated for 16 Golden Globes and won three throughout her career. The 2026 Golden Globes will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser for the second consecutive year on 11 January.
