Aryna Sabalenka has once again set the standard on the WTA Tour in 2025, and she’s doing it while shutting down any lingering doubts about her game.
This season, she collected her fourth Grand Slam title by beating Amanda Anisimova in the US Open final.
Sabalenka is also guaranteed to finish the year as world number one, sitting 1,675 points clear of second-ranked Iga Swiatek.
But it wasn’t always this way. Early in her career, there were plenty who doubted whether Sabalenka could ever reach this level.
He explained: “People used to laugh at me when I told them Aryna would be a top player. I don’t remember exactly how old she was but I said that she’s going to be a top-10 player for sure.”
Vladimir Voltchkov says he was ‘laughed’ at when he said Aryna Sabalenka could win Grand Slams
