The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that a popular ice cream company is recalling some of its bars sold in 31 states.
Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, based in Oakland, Calif., issued a voluntary recall of some Häagen-Dazs brand ice cream bars after an allergen was found, the FDA reported on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
"We are recalling this product because it may contain products that contain wheat in packaging that does not reveal the presence of wheat," the company wrote in an online announcement this week. "Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products."

The recall involves the following product:
- Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars in the 6-count package with the batch code LLA519501 and a best by date of Jan. 31, 2027.
What retailers sold the recalled ice cream bars?
They were shipped to retailers Kroger and Giant Eagle.
Where were recalled ice cream bars distributed?
According to the FDA, the recalled bars were distributed to retailers in the following 31 states:

Have there been any issues in connection with the recalled ice cream bars?
As of the company's Monday, Nov. 3, announcement, no illness had been reported in connection with the recalled product.
"No other Häagen-Dazs products or other batches of Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars are affected by this recall," Dreyer's wrote.
How to get refunded for recalled ice cream bars
Consumers with a wheat allergy or sensitivity who purchased the affected ice cream bars are urged not to eat the product and, instead, throw it away or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.
