WASHINGTON — Miss Universe President Raul Rocha Cantu is addressing the controversy surrounding the treatment of Miss Universe Mexico ahead of the annual pageant.

The organization's president condemned the actions of Thai executive Nawat Itsaragrisil for his treatment of Miss Universe Mexico, Fatima Bosch, during a pre-sash ceremony event in Thailand. The heated exchange led to a walkout from contestants in support of Bosch.

Itsaragrisil, who serves as the president for Miss Grand International and as vice president for Asia and Oceania for the Miss Universe Organization, called out the 25-year-old contestant for allegedly missing a sponsored photoshoot.
