An Edinburgh woman has opened up on life with a debilitating condition which regularly leaves her at risk of serious injury while completing everyday tasks.

Anne Sandilands, from Gorgie , was born with Classical Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) , which is considered a rare condition affecting about one in 20,000 people.

The 40-year-old’s EDS often leads to serious lacerations of her skin and dislocation of her joints - symptoms she has had to live with from an extremely young age.

Anne shared how the normal rough and tumble of childhood would often leave her hospitalised and indoors for long periods of time. On one occasion as a child, her lacerations were so severe it would leave healthcare professionals puzzled.
