A government watchdog group is warning of “massive, inescapable and irremediable conflicts of interest” in the known individual donors and companies behind President Donald Trump’s new ballroom.
Two thirds, or 16, of the 24 publicly identified corporate donors behind the planned ballroom have received $279 billion in government contracts for projects over the last five years, according to a report released Monday by Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy organization. Of those backers, 14 have had their federal enforcement actions suspended by the Trump administration, or are facing such actions, the report found.
Per the report, the list includes companies such as Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft and Nvidia.
