Tuesday night’s election results toppled expectations in Phillipsburg where Democrats took a victory over Republicans to claim all but one of the representative seats that were up for grabs in Tuesday’s election.
Democrats Lee Clark, Bernie Fey, Keith Kennedy and Joshua Wanisko were elected by more than 1,700 votes each, giving the town a new supermajority.
Wanisko secured the most votes of any candidate, with 1,916 votes; and Republican Edward Saultz was elected to his first unexpired term.
That means the town will say goodbye to current two-term Council President Peter Marino and Council Vice-President Dustin Pierce, a community advocate and political newcomer who was fulfilling an expired term left vacant by one of two Republicans who unexpectedly resigned from council earlier this
