Hours after Democrats scored major wins in elections nationwide, President Donald Trump addressed the results, saying they're not "good for anybody."
Trump blamed the government shutdown in part for GOP losses and demanded the Senate end the filibuster.
The president was speaking to Republican Senators at a White House breakfast on the one year anniversary of his victory.
Trump said the government shutdown was a “big factor, negative” for the Republican party in the elections and called on the senators to bring it to the end.
“We must get the government open,” Trump said said, during opening remarks at the White House.
“It’s time for Republican to do what they have to do,” he said. “Terminate the filibuster."
GOP senators have panned that effort, saying the 60-vote threshold ensures the minority party, which is now Democrats, has a say -- something that's important if power shifts in Washington.
Trump also took no blame for the Republican losses in Tuesday night's election.
"They say that I wasn't on the ballot was the biggest factor. I don't know about that, but I was honored that they said that,” he said.
