A Coventry man who was part of a bag-snatching gang has been jailed. Adam Zawi targeted unsuspecting victims while prowling pubs across London .
Zawi, 21, had been with Aouidj Abderaouf and Oussama Fadage on July 30 this year when he grabbed a bag on Martin Lane. CCTV captured Abderaouf eyeing another bag at a pub on Pudding Lane.
Police said the victim had placed his rucksack on a chair before heading to the bar, not realising Abderaouf was watching. He then strolled past the table, grabbed the bag, and fled.
Officers had been watching Abderaouf, and the 29-year-old was quickly arrested. He was later sentenced to 36 weeks in jail.
Zawi, of Regent Street, Coventry , was sentenced to one year in jail. Accomplice Fadage also received a one-year jail term in October.
