1. On Wednesday the Premier and I returned from Canberra having met with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and other senior ministers as we launched our campaign to retain a fair share of the GST. I am pleased to report the Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to WA and the current deal. But with plenty of other commentators and State governments lining up to tear down the deal, we won’t be sitting on the sidelines.
2. West Australians have rightly been outraged by the unfairness of the previous GST carve up. If the current GST floor wasn’t in place, WA would receive just 11 per cent of its population share. In dollar terms that’s $6 billion less for WA in just a single year.
