World No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma will open the innings for India in the fourth T20I against Australia on Thursday, November 6. In the match scheduled to take place at Carrara Oval in Queensland, the left-handed batter from Punjab will have a chance to enter his name in the history books. If the left-handed batter manages to score at least 39 runs in less than 68 balls, then he will become the fastest batter in the world in terms of balls taken to score 1000 runs in T20Is.
As of now, Abhishek, who made his T20I debut for India last year in July against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club, has 961 runs to his credit in 500 balls.
The overall record of being the quickest batter in the world to score 1000 runs in T20Is is in the name of Australia’s Tim David.
