Fort Collins voters appeared in early voting to be siding with their City Council on how to redevelop the former Hughes Stadium property at the west edge of the city.
Two competing issues were on the ballot. The council referred measure, Question 2H, asked voters to ratify the recommendation of the city’s Civic Assembly. The assembly recommended a range of uses for the property.
A citizen initiated issue would have undone the work of the assembly and required that the city commit 100% of the 165-acre site for use as a natural area.
Early results showed 67% of voters supporting the council’s position. The citizen-initiated issue, labeled Question 303 on the ballot, was failing with 54% of voters opposed.
