BENNINGTON — Two felony trials scheduled to begin this week were delayed at the last minute due to differing circumstances in each case.

Willard Buell, 65, was set for a one-day trial to begin Wednesday morning in Bennington. That case was delayed due to a last-minute request by prosecutors for additional days to present evidence, as well as a scheduling conflict with one of the defense attorneys. The trial was moved to November 26-28.

Buell is charged with four counts of sexual assault with serious injury alongside an obstruction of justice charge. According to a police affidavit, Buell sexually attacked the victim several times when drinking, then allegedly threatened to shoot her if she told the police.
