Shillong, Nov 5: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today said that the recent arrest of five individuals for extorting money is not proof that the outlawed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) is regrouping.
Recently, police in South West Khasi Hills arrested several individuals, including a juvenile, for extortion in the name of a faction of the GNLA.
“There is no regrouping of that sort. Of course a group of criminals were there. They wanted to commit criminal activities. Now we are taking care of and we will not spare anybody who crosses the line and limit,” Tynsong, who holds charge of the Home Department, said
Tynsong also said that the government is proactive on the matter and takes action when information is received.
