Vancouver to raise garbage rates next year, also considers higher water and sewer rates

Vancouver residents will likely see a slight increase on their garbage bills next year.

“A nominal increase to customer rates would help maintain the city’s high level of solid waste services, including many different options for curbside collection of garbage, recycling and optional organics,” Julie Gilbertson, the city’s solid waste supervisor, said in a staff report presented to Vancouver City Council members during their Monday meeting.
