WASHINGTON, D.C. – The government shutdown has now entered its 36th day, marking the longest shutdown in history. This development comes as Democrats secured significant wins in key races across the country, focusing on cost of living issues.
President Trump addressed GOP senators during a breakfast meeting at the White House. He highlighted the impact of the shutdown on the recent elections.
"I thought we'd have a discussion after the press leaves about what last night represented and what we should do about it and also about the shutdown and how that relates to last night," Trump said.
He emphasized the shutdown as a negative factor for the Republican Party in the elections.
"I think if you read the pollsters, the shutdown was a big factor negative for the Republicans," Trump said.
