New Delhi, Nov 5: At least 66 people have died and hundreds of thousands have been displaced after Typhoon Kalmaegi, one of the strongest storms this year, battered the central Philippines, authorities said on Wednesday.
The powerful typhoon inundated large parts of Cebu, the country’s most populated central island, where 49 deaths were reported, international media reported.
Twenty-six people remain missing, according to the civil defence agency. Footage from the affected areas showed residents taking refuge on rooftops as floodwaters swept away cars and shipping containers, reports BBC.
