KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
In a massive announcement Wednesday afternoon, Interim Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota said Assessor Gail McCann Beatty is being ousted from her position.

This comes less than 24 hours after voters in Jackson County approved a ballot measure to amend the county charter and make the county tax assessor an elected position rather than an appointed one.
"Gail McCann Beatty will no longer be the assessor of Jackson County," LeVota said.
It was not immediately clear if LeVota had already spoken with McCann Beatty about the move. LeVota added, "I will speak with Ms. McCann Beatty about that and she has the
