KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

In a massive announcement Wednesday afternoon, Interim Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota said Assessor Gail McCann Beatty is being ousted from her position.

In a press conference Wednesday afternoon, LeVota said McCann Beatty is being given 24 hours to tender her resignation or face removal from office. Advertisement

This comes less than 24 hours after voters in Jackson County approved a ballot measure to amend the county charter and make the county tax assessor an elected position rather than an appointed one.

"Gail McCann Beatty will no longer be the assessor of Jackson County," LeVota said.
