Four students were hospitalized after they took some sort of edibles at Margate Middle School on Wednesday, police said.

Margate Police said 7-8 students were exposed to "laced, edible snacks" at the school on Northwest 65th Avenue.

Four of the students were hospitalized while the rest were released to their parents, police said. All were in stable condition.

Police said they don't know what kind of edibles the students ate but it appeared they contained marijuana.

NBC6 has reached out to Broward County Public Schools for more details on how the edibles wound up at the school and whether anyone faces discipline.

An investigation was ongoing.
