CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A 56-year-old sex offender from Shinnston serving time for strangulation and escape got at least another year added to his parole date Thursday for failure to keep his sex registry information up to date and accurate.
Albert William Boyd's lawyer, Billie Garrett, objected to Harrison Chief Judge Christopher J. McCarthy's decision to run the Harrison County Circuit Court sentence of 1 to 5 years consecutive to the Monongalia County strangulation and escape terms.
McCarthy did partially grant Garrett's request in that he ran concurrent the two sentences in Harrison County for failure to register.
Assistant Prosecutor Andrea Roberts made no sentencing recommendation, dismissed a third count, and agreed not to seek a repeat-felon enhancement as part of the plea deal.
