Bob Hardy has become a familiar figure in Eastern Ontario over the last three decades.

The septuagenarian has made a name for himself as someone who doesn’t shy away from some of life’s greatest challenges.

After being diagnosed with leukemia in 1996, he went on to cycle the Rideau Lakes, and when he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012, he still managed to complete his first marathon at 65 years old.

Following a recent diagnosis for Parkinson’s disease, the athlete, artist and community member said he isn’t ready to give up yet. But he does recognize his approach to life might have to undergo a few adjustments.

“The bucket list is funny,” said Hardy. “It’s only when people are genuinely sick when they decide to do things.”
