SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schenectady County District Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday that John Grier, formerly of Schenectady, was sentenced on Monday to 12 years to life in prison in a child sex abuse case. Grier, 40, was convicted on February 20.
Grier was previously found guilty of forcibly fondling a 14-year-old girl in a Rotterdam parking lot in June 2023. He was convicted of the following charges: • First-degree sexual abuse by forcible compulsion • Third-degree sexual abuse • Forcible touching • Endangering the welfare of a child
Grier was sentenced as a persistent felony offender for prior convictions of second-degree robbery in Albany County in 2002 and second-degree attempted burglary in Schenectady County in 2013. He received the sentence of 12 years
