In a unanimous vote last week, Class AA athletic directors approved forming their own baseball classification beginning with the 2026 season.

In 2024, baseball consisted of four conferences with an All-Class State Tournament. But with the addition of Bozeman, Gallatin, Great Falls and Great Falls CMR this coming spring, there are now enough teams to form a AA classification.

“We’ve kind of slowly been waiting for the other teams in AA to matriculate their way into having a baseball program so that we could have our own AA league,” Belgrade Activities Director Toby Robinson said. “Every team is on board for this spring except Helena.”

Helena High and Helena Capital are expected to join in 2027 at which point all 16 Class AA schools would have a program.
