MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect on Tuesday in connection with a deadly crash involving a pedestrian in June, officials reported on Wednesday.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Charles Hughes on a charge of felony hit-and-run resulting in death.

Ryan Alexander , 40, was killed in the crash, which happened after 6 a.m. on Friday, June 27.

Investigators said both Alexander and the vehicle involved in the crash were found in driveway of Hughes’ house. Hughes later told authorities visibility was poor at the time of the crash.

He told investigators he saw something in the road and tried to dodge it before driving over it. He believed it was a “critter,” officials stated. He then noticed something dragging under his vehicle.
