Defending state Class D individual champion Anna Furman of Tri-Valley posted the fastest time at the Section 9 girls cross country championships, at Warwick's Sanfordville Elementary on Nov. 4.
The junior Furman won the Class D race in 17 minutes, 49.7 seconds, nearly 44 seconds better than New Paltz senior Dylan Friedman (18:23.1), the Class B champ - Furman and Friedman won the recent OCIAA and MHAL championship races.
Monroe-Woodbury junior Olivia Heim (18:26.6) won Class A by nearly 24 seconds and junior Hannah Chapin (19:13.6) led a 1-2-3 sweep by Rondout Valley in the Class C race.
