BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A Queens man accused of shoving a 77-year-old man onto train tracks at Atlantic Terminal has been sentenced to 13 years in jail, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced on Wednesday.
The unprovoked attack happened around 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 18, 2023.
The victim was standing on the Long Island Rail Road platform for track 5 when Matthew Lloyd, 38, of Queens, punched him multiple times in the face and pushed him off the platform, according to DA Gonzalez.
Officials say the incident was captured on surveillance video.
The victim was rescued by a LIRR mechanical foreman.
The victim suffered significant and ongoing pain and has struggled with mobility since the attack, prosecutors say. The incident resulted in lasting vision and memory impairments.
