A group of students feared their property was haunted when they heard strange, unexplainable noises coming from their basement – but the reality was arguably even more terrifying. ‌

In addition to hearing noises and alarms, the 10 housemates also found drawers left open in the kitchen and bathroom and lights switched on in rooms they had never been in. ‌

Scared but curious, they followed the sounds to the basement - and that's where they found a locked door. ‌

One of the housemates, Mark Hartman, told ABC News: "A few times, when my roommate Brett was down there, he would hear noises. But, when he tried to turn the handle on a door located in the basement, it was always locked."
