NBA officials met today with staff of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee about the recent indictments of current and former NBA players and coaches, according to ESPN and The Athletic (subscription required):

The meeting with the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee staffers began at 3 p.m. and ended before 4. Attorneys for both the league and the committee, as well as a consultant representing the NBA, are involved in today’s briefing, said a congressional source, who also said deputy NBA commissioner Mark Tatum was not at the briefing, either.

Neither NBA commissioner Adam Silver nor elected officials attended the meeting but was attended by other NBA officials and staffers of the committee, which is chaired by Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
