ATLANTA — Marci Collier Overstreet is headed toward elevating from Atlanta's City Council to being the council president, according to unofficial returns from Tuesday's elections.
The Georgia Secretary of State's Office showed Wednesday morning Overstreet with 54.35% of the vote (48,700 votes) to Rohit Malhotra's 45.65% (40,904).
Previously the District 11 councilmember, Overstreet joined 11Alive Anchor Jonathan Martin on Wednesday morning to talk about an election she said she always felt was going to be close.
"I could feel it week after week as I was doing forums and porch talks and fundraisers, it's been close the entire time," she said.
