PREECEVILLE — “Their eyes have seen what the protected will never see,” stated Bill Lesko, chairperson of the Preeceville legion.

“November 11 fast approaches. We must take time to reflect on the past and show homage to all military veterans, past and present. Many gave the ultimate sacrifice, and many more were wounded,” he said.

"When the call to arms came, Canadian citizens answered the call — the First and Second World Wars, Korea, Afghanistan. They were all willing to put their lives on the line in order to protect their country, families, loved ones and the freedom we all enjoy.

"Many Canadians take the freedom and prosperity they enjoy for granted. Thousands come to this land of plenty with no idea of the sacrifices others had to make to keep our free and democratic society.
