The Cyber Centre of Excellence of the CID Crime on Wednesday said they have arrested a Porbandar resident for allegedly trafficking at least 12 men from Gujarat to Thailand and then to the notorious global cybercrime hub located at KK Park area of Myawaddy Township in Myanmar to work as “cyber slaves”.

The police arrested Hitesh Arjan Somaiya for sending the 12 men, aged between 20 and 25 years, to work as cyber criminals for a gang in Myanmar with alleged Chinese links after “offering them computer operator jobs in Thailand”.

Police officials said that of the 12 men, all of whom had since returned to India, seven are from Vadodara, three from Surat and two from Ahmedabad . However, the men are so scared and traumatised that not a single one of them came forward to file a complaint i
