Nutrien NTR-T is putting its phosphate business up for strategic review in a bid to enhance the long-term value of the company.
Saskatchewan-based Nutrien’s phosphate business is worth around US$2.4-billion, according to RBC analyst reports.
The global fertilizer major has six facilities across the U.S., making it the second largest producer in North America after Florida-based The Mosaic Company.
In 2024, phosphate adjusted EBITA generated US$384-million, the lowest of the company’s operating segments. Nitrogen and Potash each generated upwards of US$1.8-billion. The agricultural retail side of the business generated US$1.7-billion.
