CLEVELAND, Ohio — Hold onto your hats, Northeast Ohio, because a powerful cold front sweeping across the Great Lakes will bring strong winds and a few scattered showers Wednesday.
Winds will ramp up through the morning and stay strong into the evening as the front moves across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland .
West-southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will gust as high as 35 mph through midday, then shift northwest behind the front by the afternoon and evening. The strongest winds are expected near the lakeshore, where gusts could reach up to 50 mph. Farther inland, gusts between 35 and 40 mph will be common.
In anticipation of the strong winds, a wind advisory has been issued from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday for Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula cou
