JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - Over in Johnson City, the race for Mayor remains undetermined.

Incumbent Republican Marty Meaney leads his Democratic challenger Christina Charuk by just 9 votes out of nearly 5,000 cast.

Due to election law changes, most absentee ballots are now tabulated on Election Day, but any that were postmarked by yesterday and arrive in the mail by Monday will still be counted. Plus, there are some affidavit ballots cast by voters that will also be needed to be considered.

The Board of Elections plans to canvass the remaining ballots on Monday. Charuk says she is committed to ensuring that every ballot is counted fairly and transparently.

News 34 reached out to Meaney for comment but did not receive a reply.
