Pennsylvania Republicans are taking stock of sweeping Democratic wins up and down the ballot Tuesday, including a pivotal state Supreme Court campaign focused on contentious state and national issues, while Gov. Josh Shapiro and other Democrats across the country celebrate a dominant showing ahead of midterm elections in 2026.

Voters Tuesday retained Justices Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty and David Wecht for another 10-year term, holding the court’s Democratic 5-2 majority. Conservatives will have another chance to slightly shake up the court after Justice Donohue retires in 2027, when she reaches the age of 75.
