AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - As the government shutdown continues, local nonprofits are working together, and even organizations that do not specialize in feeding those in need are stepping up when they see the call for help.

Two years ago, the Galvan siblings started the Corazon Bonito nonprofit to assist the community by any means.

“We’ve always tried to help as much as we can, even with the restaurant,” said Patty Galvan, co-founder of Corazon Bonito and El Rey Taqueria. “And that’s why Corazon Bonito became an idea. We wanted to be able to redo that, but like on a broader aspect.”

With the shutdown impacting their community, they came up with a plan to help by providing meals for three families per week.
