PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A spokesperson for Brett Smiley said the Providence mayor "has committed to signing" the amended Community Police Relations Act, a 2017 ordinance that already puts limits on how much police can cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
In a live interview on 12 News at 4 on Wednesday, Smiley added that a lot of the proposed changes to the CPRA were similar to what was included in a recent executive order he signed.
