Holiday staples like turkey, beef roast and mashed potatoes will be more expensive this year, according to an analysis by food scientist David Ortega, a professor at Michigan State University.
Those price increases can make things even more challenging for people relying on uncertain SNAP benefits .
Across the board, grocery prices are 2.7% higher than they were a year ago and 25% higher than five years ago due to a combination of factors like inflation, tariffs, and supply chain disruptions.
