LEMOORE, Calif. (KSEE) - A first-grade teacher in Lemoore is taking the saying "home is where the heart is" every day to school.

Theresa Soto is a teacher at Cinnamon Elementary School, and she has been leaving her mark and has been since it first opened in 2001.

She teaches first graders and helps them be prepared for what’s ahead in the future. Soto does that by making her room safe and secure as soon as the bell rings in the morning.

“It’s a safe place, it’s ok to make mistakes, no one’s going to laugh at you, we learn from our mistakes,” she said.

A typical day begins with students in their seats and morning workbooks turned to today’s lesson plan. From there, she randomly calls on a student to say a sentence out loud.
