WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Votes are still being counted, but as of now, the Washington County $11 million bond referendum was rejected.

Examining the numbers, there is a difference of nearly 1,000 votes against the referendum.

Before Election Day, Washington County officials held a press conference to explain that even if the bond passed, they would need to examine which emergency services could receive cuts.

“We will have to take a look at our services. There are certain things we have to provide," says republican Senator Marianne Moore, "I don’t know how we’re going to pay for it. We can’t simply shut down the jail and release the inmates. It doesn’t work that way."
