MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - A man and a young girl escaped a kitchen fire at a Maple Heights home on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the house located in the 5000 block of Tatra Street around 130 p.m.

The Bedford, Garfield Heights, Warrensville Heights, Bedford Heights, and Valley View Fire Departments were all called in to provide mutual aid.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw smoke coming from the home and found a fire in the kitchen.

The kitchen was severely damaged in the fire, and the remainder of the home suffered smoke and water damage.

The occupant confirmed that the fire began while cooking on the stove.

Two adults and one child have been displaced and will be staying with family until other arrangements can be made.
