DALLAS — Deep Ellum has dealt with a wild 2025 -- that much isn't really up for debate.

Businesses have been forced to endure construction that has torn up the streets, ravaged their parking options, and, they say, severely hurt their bottom lines . Crime has continued to be a concern , and so too has been the response to it, be it through the closing of streets at night or the attempted closure of businesses believed to be contributing to the perception of danger. Neighborhood icons and venerable institutions alike have bid their adieus. And, most recently, music venues believe the city itself is targeting their efforts and trying to kill their business through code compliances that has rarely been enforced throughout the years .
